Lush and delicious, your family will think you spent ages making this.
Ingredients:
- 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1/2 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
- 1 3/4 cups boiling water
- Vanilla ice cream
Preparation Method:
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Grease an 8-inch square baking dish
- Combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 1/3 cup cocoa in a medium-sized bowl
- Combine milk, butter, and vanilla in a measuring cup, then pour and stir into dry ingredients until just blended.
- Spoon the batter into a prepared dish.
- Combine brown sugar and remaining 1/4 cup cocoa in a small bowl and sprinkle evenly over the batter.
- Pour boiling water over the entire mixture; DO NOT STIR.
- Bake for 35 to 38 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool, 10 minutes.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream.
