Maria’s Night Before French Toast

Ingredients:

  • 1 long loaf of crusty bread ripped into large chunks
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 teaspoons sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla essence
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Powered cinnamon

Preparation Method:

  1. Butter a 13×9-inch pan and toss in the bread chunks until the bottom is completely covered.
  2. Beat the eggs in a large bowl. Add the milk, sugar, salt, and vanilla. Mix well. Pour the mixture over the sliced bread.
  3. Cover the pan with foil and refrigerate overnight or let sit for at least a couple of hours before baking.
  4. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  5. Remove foil and dot the top of the casserole with butter. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until bubbly and lightly browned.
  6. Let it stand for 5 minutes before serving.
