Arrabiata Sauce


  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 6 garlic cloves, peeled & pressed
  • 3 x 14 ounces cans of tomato sauce
  • 1 x 14 ounces  can chopped tomatoes
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper flakes

Preparation Method:

  1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic and cook until lightly browned about 2 minutes.
  3. Carefully slide the tomatoes and their liquid into the oil.
  4. Bring to a boil and season lightly with salt and crushed red pepper, oregano, and sugar.
  5. Lower the heat so the sauce gently simmers and cooks.
  6. Stir in the basil about 5 minutes before the sauce is finished.
  7. Taste the sauce and season with more salt and red pepper if necessary.
