Well hello — fancy seeing you here!
For those who don’t know me, let me share a little about myself.
I was born in London. I grew up living above various pubs with my Irish parents, five sisters, and one brother. Mealtimes were squeezed in between pub hours. They were often rushed. This explains why I still eat so fast! Sundays were the exception: they were always reserved for a proper family roast.
Back then, my culinary tastes were quite limited. I enjoyed classic pub-style dishes and fish and chips on Fridays. If I was feeling adventurous, I would try an avocado prawn cocktail. Yet, I was never one to stray far from familiar flavors!
A Taste of Something New
Everything changed when I met and married my husband. His heritage includes German, Austrian, Pakistani, and American. It opened my eyes and taste buds to a whole world of cuisines. His mum and grandmother were generous in sharing their family recipes, and over the years, they taught me so much.
I’ve had no formal culinary training. Instead, I learned through trial, error, and a lot of love. My goal was always to cook good food without spending hours in the kitchen or needing expensive, obscure ingredients. I’ve adapted recipes to fit our lifestyle — some passed down, some invented — all simple, budget-friendly, and delicious.
A Family Cookbook, With a Twist
For years, I dreamed of creating a family recipe book. It would be a gift for our children. It was something they would pass down. My husband had another idea: why not make videos of me preparing these meals? At first, I wasn’t so sure. But after some nudging (and a lot of laughter), the idea grew into something we both loved. And that’s how Caroline’s Saucy Kitchen was born.
Most of my recipes are forgiving. You can add a little more of this or a little less of that. They are hard to mess up. I believe one of the great joys of cooking is making a dish your own.
Cooking Is Love
I once heard that cooking a meal for your family is an act of love. That sentiment rings true for me. Our goal isn’t perfection — it’s joy. We have so much fun making our videos, and I hope you enjoy them just as much as we do.
Thank you for stopping by!
